Since moving to open source, Ed-Fi has seen a number of high value contributions to ODS/API platform source code and its related tools. Community members with active implementations have taken a step forward to modify Ed-Fi core code and work with the Ed-Fi team to have it accepted into code bases to benefit other implementations with similar needs. Record level authorization, instance year specific mode and change query enhancements are some of the contributions which have benefited the Ed-Fi technology stack in the past. In this session, we'll review these recent community contributions and discuss how to accommodate additional contributions in the future based on shared need and implementation lessons learned.

These broad session notes attempt to capture the spirit of the discussion and should not be interpreted as a transcript. Although Ed-Fi Alliance staff were involved in capturing these observations, the notes below should not be construed as official, complete, or 100% accurate.

Recent community contributions to Ed-Fi source code from ADE, DPS, Instructure and EdWire were shared. Features contributions were presented and use cases that lead to the changes and contribution experience were discussed. Some of the challenges faced by the contributors and Ed-Fi development team while integrating contributions were discussed and changes Ed-Fi is making to improve contribution experience in future were shared.
