Getting Started with TPDM v1.0

The TPDM (Teacher Preparation Data Model) technology solution is made up of the Ed-Fi ODS (Operational Data Store), a companion API (Application Programming Interface), with extensions for TPDM, referred to collectively as the Ed-Fi ODS / API with TPDM.

This documentation outlines the steps necessary to download, configure, and deploy the Ed-Fi ODS / API with TPDM in a variety of environments.

Audience

This documentation is for technical professionals who work with educational data, including business analysts, database administrators, and software developers. The primary audience is developers and hosts of ODS / API platforms, but developers of client applications may find this information useful.

Installing Ed-Fi ODS / API with TPDM v1.0

To install the Ed-Fi ODS / API for Suite 3 v5.2 with TPDM 1.0 in a Windows environment, follow the instructions at Installing Ed-Fi ODS / API 5.2 with TPDM 1.0.

Populating Data in a New Installation

During installation the ODS/API installation code will create both a minimal template and a populated template. The minimal template has the descriptors that the alliance provides as default and the populated template will have sample data as well. Because TPDM is an extension project in the ODS/API, TPDM specific default descriptors and sample data can not be loaded until post install, below we provide both downloads of the minimal and populated templates as well as instructions for loading them using the bulk load utility.

Creating a TPDM Minimal Template (Loading TPDM Descriptors Using the Bulk Load Client Utility)

A SQLServer version of the minimal template database can be download from the following link

Instructions for loading the descriptors using the Bulk Load Client Utility can be found on the following page How To: Load the TPDM v1.0 Descriptors Using Bulk Load Client Utility (ODS/API v5.2)

Creating a TPDM Populated Template (Loading TPDM Descriptors and Sample Data Using the Bulk Load Client Utility)

A SQLServer version of the populated template database can be download from the following link

Instructions for loading TPDM descriptors and sample data to a existing populated template (that already has Ed-Fi core descriptors and sample data) can be found on the following page How To: Load the TPDM Sample XML Data using Bulk Load Client Utility.
